More than $436K raised for boy thrown from Mall of America balcony

Witnesses said the child landed on the first level and the suspect took off running before he was apprehended by officers who took him into custody at the transit station of the mall, police said.

"We don't believe that there is a threat to the public at this point as the suspect has been located", he said, adding that the incident appeared to be isolated.

Despite the incident, Potts thinks the mall is still a safe place.

He's now at the Bloomington Police Department, Potts said, and authorities don't believe there is any further threat to the public. "We started this GoFundMe for their family to help cover the vast medical costs and rehabilitation costs for the long ahead".

One eye witness told local media that "he heard a woman scream that her child had been thrown from the balcony".

A five-year old boy was rushed to the hospital Friday morning after police said a man threw him from a balcony on the third floor.

Potts said the department will focus on preparing its submission for formal charges at the Hennepin County Attorney's office and anticipates charges will be filed on Monday.

The story of what happened in the Mall of America on Friday is horrifying.

In 2015, Aranda ignored an order to stay away from the mall and was arrested after panhandling and harassing two female diners, a criminal complaint said.

Chevrolet hasn't given much away about the new model, other than it will be officially revealed on July 18 . Corvettes haven't used DOHC engines since the short-lived ZR1 version of the C4 Corvette.

"'Very caring, very family-focused, deeply spiritual, very compassionate, extremely generous of their time, their talent and their resource", he said of the boy's family.

The Mall of America had been open only 17 minutes Friday morning when the screaming started.

'This was a senseless act and words can not truly express our profound shock and sadness, ' the Mall of America said in a statement on Friday.

"We have counselling services available for anyone who may need assistance".

Aranda also was accused of walking into a mall store and sweeping his hand across a display table, breaking glasses.

Court records obtained by PEOPLE show that Aranda was convicted of fifth-degree assault and interfering with an officer of the peace, and was ordered not to return to the property for one year.

Police confirmed that there is video of the incident but said it will not be released until the investigation is complete.

Then in October 2015, Aranda returned to the Mall of America again - in violation of his no-trespass order - and harassed and assaulted a woman inside a restaurant there, records show.

Aranda was under a trespass notice at the time banning him from the mall until July 4, 2016.
