U.S.'s Bolton says Pakistan committed to easing tensions with India

During a telephonic conversation, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the US NSA discussed regional security situation following the Pulwama incident.

"Both underlined the importance of Pakistan taking tangible and irreversible action against terrorist groups based in territories under its control and denial of safe haven for these groups to launch cross -border attacks", the Indian Embassy said in a readout of the meeting.

He informed John Bolton about the de-escalatory measures taken by Pakistan. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan chose to hand over the captured Indian pilot as a gesture of goodwill towards India.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas commended Pakistan for returning the pilot and offering talks with India.

According to the Indian Embassy, the two officials exchanged views on building convergence in the Indo-Pacific and agreed to work with each other and regional partners to promote inclusivity, stability, peace and prosperity in the region.
