Gmail, Google Drive hit with service disruption

An outage is affecting Gmail and Google Drive users around the world. The company said it was investigating the problem.

Although the service still appears to be up for many users, the outage is widespread. We will provide more information shortly.

"The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behaviour", the company had originally posted on its service website.

If you've been trying to send an e-mail from your Gmail account and are unable to, you're not alone.

For me, I noted earlier today that I couldn't log in, with a successful password entry showing a message about the network being down, and now showing the message "LOGIN UNAVAILABLE", with the follow-on statement that "Bendigo e-banking is currently unavailable".

Google has confirmed an issue affecting Gmail and Google Drive globally, with the effects felt particularly in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. The outage lasted for a total of three hours and twenty minutes, as per the Google dashboard.

"Woohoo - loving not being able to access any of my files", one man tweeted.

This includes Gmail and Drive.

'Users will have issues accessing or attaching files in various products'.

People are also experiencing issues with Google Drive and Google Maps.

Hopefully, Google will quickly solve this issue.

Several users took to Twitter to complain about the outage.
