Don't Be Surprised When Odell Beckham Jr is Traded

The New York Giants have agreed to trade star receiver Odell Beckham Jr.to the Cleveland Browns, a source confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He was talking about Beckham, who just signed a five-year, $95 million contract extension with Big Blue right before the 2018 regular season commenced.

Beckham, when healthy, is undoubtedly one of the best receivers in the league, as he three consecutive Pro Bowls and countless unbelievable catches will attest to.

Beckham's name has been involved in trade rumors for the better part of two years. While it's nearly unfathomable to consider the idea of two star wide receivers being traded in one offseason, the chances of it happening may be heating up.

The reported trade is not set to become official until Wednesday, when the 2019-2020 NFL league year begins.

The deal is also second trade completed in the past week by the Giants and Browns.

Jets to sign 4-time Pro Bowl LB Barr
Getting Barr is a big boost to the defense, and putting him back on the outside of a 3-4 defense could unlock his true potential. The blitzing linebacker was the Jets' first coup of free agency and was followed Tuesday morning by reports they had signed C.J.

Giants fans were however put to ease with comments from Dave Gettleman who had said multiple times that the Giants didn't sign Beckham to trade him, he was going to be around for quite some time.

Still, it is quite a haul of assets for a rebuilding Giants team and makes the compensation the Pittsburgh Steelers received for dealing Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders, a third- and fifth-round pick, look even worse.

The New York Giants are functioning in a weird sort of way, floating in an Eli Manning-created limbo, unable to really rebuild but also not really capable of rebooting either.

But after another disastrous season where the Giants flopped at 5-11 and Beckham had several incidents that angered the team's brass, they made a decision to move him after paying out $21.5 million for 12 games. The Giants lost the game 38-13 and Beckham was held to four catches for just 28 yards. The Giants finished the campaign with a 5-11 record, their fifth losing season in the last six.
