Facebook restores Warren campaign ads touting plan to break up tech giants

Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) described as a flawless example of why her plan to break up tech giants is necessary, Facebook late Monday took down ads from Warren's presidential campaign that promoted the proposal and denounced tech corporations-including Facebook itself-for exploiting users' private information for profit. The material was nevertheless soon restored, following a report in Politico. The service's advertising policies ban use of "f" or the Facebook logo in place of the word "Facebook".

Warren's ads targeted Facebook, Amazon and Google.

Elizabeth Warren came forward with the plan in a post written for online publishing platform Medium, which also advocated new rules to clamp down on discriminatory practices within the sector. Separating the company from its ad business would make Google ads much less valuable.

The ads she placed on Facebook contains the very same rationale behind her wanting to dissolve the tech giants.

2020 Democratic presidential candidates are looking to target big tech companies.

Facebook took them down claiming that the ads went "against Facebook's advertising policies". In a rather odd decision, Warren's 2020 president campaign chose to run ads about breaking up Facebook's monopoly on the social media website. "It's for people who are tech entrepreneurs it's for people who have small businesses and want to grow big businesses, it's for people who have medium-sized businesses and want to grow them", Warren added that she does not want large tech firms to use their information and power to stile smaller, rising, firms. "But in their rise to power, they've bulldozed the competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field in their favor".

Apple says 'it's show time' March 25, TV service announcement expected
We'll no doubt start to hear more as we get closer to the event, but we don't expect new hardware to be announced. The invitation included the teaser line: "It's show time", hinting at the news.

Warren was quick to take a hit at Facebook for the whole mess over on Twitter.

The policy in question says that Facebook ads can not use the company's corporate logo in posts.

In a tweet, the Senator said that the event demonstrates how much power Facebook wields. The ads featured a video with a thumbnail displaying Facebook's logo. Thanks for restoring my posts.

Under the law governing television, the major networks could not refuse a campaign's paid political ad for such content-related reasons.

Facebook was forced to backtrack after it removed ads placed by Sen. But I want a social media marketplace that isn't dominated by a single censor.
