Charlotte Russe Closing All Stores, Including St. Cloud

Charlotte Russe is closing all of its stores, the company announced Wednesday.

Charlotte Russe has stores in 49 states and Puerto Rico.

USA Today reports the company has more than 8,700 employees and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February.

The abrupt announcement came a day after struggling big-box discounters Family Dollar said it was closing 390 stores, but didn't make a list available of which sites.

A spokesperson for the retailer confirmed it plans to liquidate.

Going out of business sales have already begun and their online store is now closed.

The liquidation sale is expected to end by April 30.

Charlotte Russe is closing more than 400 stores around the USA, including at Gateway Mall in Lincoln.

Charlotte Russe, founded in 1975 and based in San Francisco, is a retail company offering trendy clothing for women. Charlotte Russe's intellectual property and rights to its leases will be sold separately. According to its store locator, the company operates more than 650 stores in the US.
