Jody Wilson-Raybould resigns from Trudeau's cabinet

"With a heavy heart, I am writing to tender my resignation as the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence", Wilson-Raybould wrote in her resignation letter, which she has made public.

If then-attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould was informing the prime minister about her policy on the issue, or discussing options, that's fair game apparently.

Wilson-Raybould was the Attorney General of Canada from November 4, 2015, until January 14, 2019 and is at the centre of the ethics investigation.

Mr Trudeau has denied the Globe and Mail report, which cited unnamed sources.

Dion informed the NDP MPs who requested the investigation Monday that there is sufficient cause to proceed with an inquiry into the actions of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on this matter. The Quebec company, which offers a range of services across engineering, procurement and construction, is facing bribery and fraud charges. The current justice minister and attorney general David Lametti has been asked by Trudeau for recommendations on whether to waive said privileges, which would allow Wilson-Raybould to speak about the allegations.

Kyler Murray is picking football over baseball
But at least one team that could really use a quarterback appears poised to take a hard pass on the Heisman trophy victor . According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY , the Giants appear to be an unlikely landing spot for Kyler Murray.

On Monday, Wayne Long, a backbench Liberal MP from New Brunswick, broke ranks and joined the Conservatives and New Democrats in calling for the justice committee to investigate the matter.

"Justin Trudeau promised Canadians he would change the way politics worked in Ottawa, but instead his Liberal government continues to prioritize helping insiders and the rich get ahead".

Wilson-Raybould was shuffled out of the justice portfolio last month, and is now the minister of veterans affairs, a move widely seen as a demotion.

Last week, Trudeau told reporters that the allegations in the Globe and Mail's story are false.

SNC-Lavalin was charged with paying out $48 million in bribes to Libyan officials in the decade leading up to the NATO-led overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi's government in 2011, payments meant to influence government decision-making, though the company was also charged with defrauding Libyan companies of about $130 million.
