Danai Gurira to leave The Walking Dead after season 10

Per THR, Gurira will return for The Walking Dead's tenth season on AMC, but not for every episode. According to sources with knowledge of the new deal, Gurira will finish out season 9 and appear in a handful of episodes in season 10 before exiting the series.

AMC programming president David Madden spoke with The Hollywood Reporter back in November regarding Gurira's future with the series. These days, she's in more demand for the likes of Black Panther (where she played Okoye, reprising the role for Avengers: Infinity War) and Godzilla Vs. Kong, rumoured as one of the humans avoiding being squished by the giant beasts' battle. The blockbuster hit won a Screen Actors Guild Award and is nominated for best film at this month's Oscars.

Danai's departure was rumoured after she was engaged in "prolonged negotiations" with AMC.

The Division 2's private beta is now live
Although the main goal of the beta is to find and eliminate bugs, it also gives players a taste of what's to come. The second major issue is receiving a game invite while not in-game, which will make your client crash at launch.

Gurira is the latest in a string of Walking Dead stars to leave the show in the past year or so, following Chandler Riggs, who was written off in Season 8, and Lincoln and Lauren Cohan, who both left partway through Season 9, though Cohan may return in some capacity in Season 10. We love Danai; we love that character. It also gives Scott Gimple, the architect of The Walking Dead universe, another challenge: Finding a way to reunite Rick and Michonne without disturbing the television show. We're thrilled for what's in store for her. Obviously, the lesson of Andy is that the show can survive anybody's departure if need be but that's not our goal.

So far, AMC and representative for Danai have declined to comment on her leaving the show. "The goal is to have Danai continue on whatever basis she can make work, given the other things that she has going on in her life".
