This year, Academy voters did pass on nominating perennial favourites like Taylor Swift for the top three prizes of Album, Record and Song of the Year, relegating pop stars who reigned in years prior to lesser categories. The event also highlighted her organization Fem the Future, which empowers women in music to take on roles as engineers, producers, music video directors and more.
"There's great respect that is deserved to women and you will see that live embodied on Sunday".
The nominees: Vying for Record of the Year this year are Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin for "I Like It", Brandi Carlile for "The Joke", Childish Gambino for "This is America", Drake for "God's Plan", Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper for "Shallow", Kendrick Lamar & SZA for "All the Stars", Post Malone for "Rock Star" and Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey for "The Middle".
Viewers may also be paying close attention to the number of female winners, as previous year the show made headlines when Alessia Cara was the only woman to nab a solo Grammy.

Jennifer Lopez will be performing at the Grammys this year. "It was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more".
Ehrlich told media he would have loved to feature Grande in the show, but she said it was too late to pull something together.
As for other ways to watch the Grammys, you can also tune into American network CBS. "And I am not hung up on what happens or doesn't happen", she said.
Sunday's show will include tributes to Diana Ross, to mark her 75th birthday in March, and to Aretha Franklin, who died last August.
