Owner: Grizzlies will retire Marc Gasol’s jersey in future

Just a day after being dealt to the Toronto Raptors in a blockbuster deal, the Grizzlies announced that his No. 33 jersey will "hang in the rafters" alongside Zach Randolph and Tony Allen. The 34-year-old Gasol is a three-time National Basketball Association all-star who is averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals a game in 2018. The Grizzlies sent one-half of their dynamic duo to Toronto before the NBA's trade deadline, and with about an hour left before trades officially ended for the 2018-19 season, there was plenty of time for Conley to go somewhere else. Gasol joins Kawhi Leonard, victor of the 2015 and 2016 Defensive Player Awards, on a 40-16 Raptors squad that through yesterday's games is one of the only teams in the National Basketball Association to rank in the top 10 in both offense and defense.

The Raptors are planning to deal away their former fifth overall draft pick (2011) Jonas Valanciunas along with Delon Wright and C.J. Miles to Memphis.

Prior to the injury, Valanciunas was enjoying a career-high 12.8 points per game (tied with 2015-16) this season and a.575 field goal percentage. He's under contract until the end of next season, earning $25.6 million.

But in terms of precise changes, it's just impossible for me to predict at this point in the process. If successful, Major League Baseball could resell rights to streaming services or cable providers.

Miles (6-6, 230), who will wear jersey #6, has appeared in 40 games (one start) and has averaged 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in 14.1 minutes this season.

The trade is not yet official, but who's kidding who, when Woj reports it, it's a done deal. Wright is a nice wing to add, and extra picks are never bad, but a second-rounder from the Raptors isn't exactly that exciting.

Valanciunas is in a similar spot with his contract and has a player option for next year that's just north of $17.6 million.
