‘Uri’ Box Office: Vicky Kaushal-Starrer Earns Rs 20 Crore

Vicky Kaushal-starrer "Uri: The Surgical Strike" is a military drama that shows a surgical strike carried out by Indian armed forces on terrorist launch pads at the Pok. According to The Quint's Stutee Ghosh Kaushal, in his "all guns blazing avatar, plays his role with exactly the right amount of vigour and vulnerability".

The film is based on 2016 Indian Army's surgical strike in Pakistan as a retaliation of the Uri attacks. "It's a surreal feeling that audience has accepted our film with open arms", he told media.

While the former is a biopic based on India's former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and gives us a glimpse of the scenario that existed during his ten year tenure as Prime Minster, the latter is inspired by India's surgical strike in Kashmir. The film has been directed by Aditya Dhar and it has been produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The film collected Rs 3.5 crore on the day of its release, taking its collection so far to around Rs 7 crore. Yami Gautam and Vicky Kaushal were both casually dressed for the occasion. The film hit the theatres yesterday as it was scheduled to be released on 11th January 2019, Friday.

The Surgical Strike has had a satisfactory start at the box office with a collection of Rs 8.20 crore at the domestic market on first day.
