Kyler Murray Wants $15 Million To Play For The Oakland A’s

Part of the deal was allowing Murray to play one more season of college football - in which he put up historic numbers for the University of Oklahoma and won the Heisman.

Each year, Major League Baseball notifies teams of their draft bonus pools and worldwide spending allotment.

It might seem trivial - both will pay him millions! - but the Heisman Trophy victor assuredly is weighing the compensation structure of both the Major League Baseball and the NFL as he decides his future.

It shows how desperate both the league and the A's are to keep Murray as a baseball player.

That would be taking special treatment to a new level, but MLB thinks that highly of Murray and wants him in baseball.

According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the A's are working on "creative" ways to get Murray to choose baseball over football.

According to multiple reports, Murray is asking for a significant increase in guaranteed money from Oakland - as he should, given he has incredible leverage right now - although the number is in flux.

Oakland would have to add Murray to the 40-man roster to make such changes.

The chances seem high at this point that Murray, who projects to be one of the first quarterbacks taken, will enter the draft.

We should know more about Murray's final decision soon.

Does Murray see the green dollar signs of guaranteed contracts in baseball, knowing he'd have to wait years to see most of the cash as he first pays his dues as a minor leaguer? Murray would then be out of options after 2022 and would be subject to waivers to stay in the minors.

Per Spotrac, first-round picks in the 2018 National Football League draft received signing bonuses ranging from $4.97 million (No. 32 pick Lamar Jackson) to $21.85 million (No. 1 pick Baker Mayfield).
