India vs Australia 2019 ODIs

Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni's indifferent form has come under the scanner in recent times but India vice-captain Rohit Sharma Thursday backed him to the hilt, saying he will play a pivotal role in the World Cup later this year.

The Indian team will be playing a three-match ODI series against the Aussies in Australia.

In an interview to ANI, Rohit said, "Over the years we've seen the kind of presence he has in dressing room & on field". With him being around, there's calmness around the group, it's also a bit of a help to the captain, he is like a guiding light.

With the 2019 ODI World Cup on the horizon, focus has firmly shifted to white-ball cricket with the arrival of limited-overs' specialists here on Tuesday.

"I think the 13 ODIs we're going to be playing leading up to the World Cup, you're going to see more or less the same squad playing in the World Cup", Rohit said. "I can definitely say that as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers we definitely don't align with those views and those are purely individual views", he said.

GoFundMe campaigns can typically still collect money even if they do not meet their goal, but this case was different. Donors will have to proactively choose to hand over the donation to Kolfage's group.

Speaking about the composition of the squad for the upcoming 50-over World Cup, Rohit said that although spots have been taken, the performances of the players in the series against Australia will play a big role in identifying solutions for the spots.

Team India skipper Virat Kohli broke his silence on the ongoing controversy involving Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, who made sexist comments on a TV talk show.

".batting down the order, getting us through the line, his finishing touch is very important and he has finished so many games for us. There will be one or two changes, keeping in mind the form and injury concerns over the next few months", Rohit said ahead of India's first ODI against Australia at Sydney on Saturday. His calmness, his advice is very important. "So, things he does bring a lot on the table for us and his presence around the group is a massive factor for us", added Sharma.

The three-match ODI series between Australia and India will begin on January 12 in Sydney.
