Google Assistant makes its way into Google Maps

For the United States consumers, Google is introducing a couple of new features in the Assistant that will enable them to do a lot more than just search for flights. In other words, Google Assistant is winning the platform war on mobile phones but still lags behind Alexa in the smart-home market, per Search Engine Journal. So, slap on your VR headset and take a ride.

Lowering the entry barrier to development could help grow Google Assistant ecosystem, as well as usher in a new generation of low-cost smart home appliances. Further, support is on the way for Google Keep,, Bring! There were at least three Google Home-like devices announced at the show (by JBL, Anker and Verizon), created to bring the Assistant to your auto, so you can use it for navigation, music, and much more.

Google's announcement coincides with the start of the CES 2019, where the Assistant and Amazon's Alexa are featured in new TVs, speakers, smart home devices, and other gadgets.

The Interpreter mode is a new feature that is expected to be rolled out as an update over a couple of weeks on Google Home device and smart displays.

Google Assistant sort of stole the show this year in Las Vegas - though it also did this last year. "Our core focus is to make a product that can understand everything you say, can hear you, can convert those intents into actions and help you fulfill them", vice president of product for Google Assistant Manuel Bronstein said. Passengers will also be able to retrieve their boarding pass with the Assistant on an Android or iOS phone. Later in 2019, the Assistant will be coming to more popular media and entertainment devices, including television sets from Samsung. It is striving to make other properties available for voice-powered booking via tech integrations with providers like Mirai and Amadeus-backed TravelClick.
