Kelly attorney Steve Greenberg slammed Foxx's decision to hold a press conference in a statement to the Chicago Tribune.

On Tuesday, The New York Times reported that the District Attorney's Office of Fulton County, Georgia, are "conducting interviews" regarding the accusations featured on Surviving R. Kelly.

Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx announced Tuesday afternoon during a press conference they are asking anyone who may be a victim or has information about a possible victim connected to the allegations against the singer in IL to come forward.

"We hope that it will turn into a fruitful investigation and it will result in the return of Joycelyn Savage to her family or, at the very least, that she start opening continuous conversations and interactions with her family like she had before she met Mr. Robert Sylvester Kelly", Griggs told PEOPLE on Wednesday.

Timothy Savage told a police officer on January 3 that Don Russell, whom he identified as Kelly's manager, had texted him saying it would be best for him and his family if the documentary didn't air, according to a Henry County police report. "My intention was to create something extremely defiant and provocative because I was angry and still hadn't processed the trauma that had occurred in my own life", she wrote. The Fulton County investigators "haven't confirmed or denied an investigation", he said, but they asked him Monday for contact information for witnesses.

Jocelyn Savage's parents have filed harassment claims against R Kelly's manager Don Russell after they claim he sent them threats following their appearance in the "Surviving R Kelly" documentary. Families who have tried to rescue their daughters whom they say Kelly has taken captive also appeared in the series. I was sickened as a survivor.

An attorney for Kelly did not immediately respond to TIME's request for comment.

"In order to have an investigation we have to have victims and witnesses who are willing to come forward with information", Foxx said.

"There are no underage women, there is no sex cult, it's all some reality TV made up story", Greenberg said to WGN. Rather, he was acquitted on child pornography charges in 2008.
