Clemson vs. Alabama: Tigers File Blowout Win, Drake Curse Invoked

Clemson vs. Alabama: Tigers File Blowout Win, Drake Curse Invoked

Put plain and simple, Nick Saban and the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide got taken to the woodshed Monday night in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

It was anything but a close game as the Tigers ran out comfortable 44-16 winners in what was their fourth meeting in recent years to be crowned the national champions for the second time in three years.

The College Football Playoff pivoted away from its original plan to play semifinal games on New Year's Eve, moving several sets of games off weeknights to Saturdays instead.

With Vic Fangio, Broncos go with experience and toughness
Kubiak retired after five seasons with the Broncos and a 25-year coaching career following the 2017 season citing health reasons. The Broncos fired former coach Vance Joseph on December 31 after he posted 5-11 and 6-10 records in his two seasons at the helm.

There is plenty yet to be written as we head into 2019, but first, some team (s) are going to need to figure out a way to beat Alabama and Clemson. Tagovailoa struggled against the Tigers after recovering from ankle surgery, throwing two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown within the first two minutes. Lawrence threw TD passes to Travis Etienne, Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross to help undefeated Clemson become the first team in the AP poll era starting in 1936 to win 15 games in a season.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney, the third active coach to win multiple national championships, expressed his absolute delight for everyone involved in the Clemson football program. But it wasn't just that record-setting fact or that Clemson simply beat Alabama, it was how the Tigers did so in such one-sided fashion.

"What a great win over Clemson for the Crimson Tide".
