Chrome will start filtering disruptive ads worldwide in July

Chrome will block intrusive ads worldwide starting July 9.

The 12 ad formats deemed particularly annoying based on the Coalition for Better Ads survey data. "The Standards identify 12 experiences that users find intrusive and that advertisers, publishers, and technology vendors should avoid showing".

This shouldn't be something new for website owners, as many have already corrected sites since late 2017 when Google first announced Chrome's built-in ad blocker rollout for North America and Europe. "As per the Better Ads Standards guidelines, pop-ups, full-screen ads with a countdown that appear before a website's content is shown ('prestitial"), auto-play videos with sound and large sticky ads will be classified as obtrusive on desktop and will accordingly be blocked.

Currently, Chrome's ad blocker is only active for Chrome users in the US, Canada, and Europe, after it was initially rolled out in an initial stage in February 2018.

Google claims that users' experience on the Web ranks higher on the company's priority list compared to the money they generate for the search giant.

Google follows the "Better Ads Standards" when determining which websites to filter ads on in Chrome, which was developed by the Coalition for Better Ads.

However, Jericho's deal with AEW is not exclusive, as he's still interested in working with New Japan Pro Wrestling. In case you missed it, Double or Nothing will take place on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The Coalition is expanding its standards to cover all countries, which has prompted Google's forthcoming Chrome update.

Chrome's built-in ad blocker isn't an ad blocker in the classical meaning of the term.

Chrome has had some success with the Better Ads Standards program.

"Further, out of millions of sites we've reviewed to date, less than 1% have had their ads filtered", Galbraith added. According to Google, two thirds of publishers whose sites were labelled as non-compliant in the past are now in good standing and less than one per cent of all of the sites it has reviewed have had their ads filtered.

Google says the overall aim isn't to block bad ads, but to encourage outlets to improve the way they deliver them - and it seems to be working.
