With big-hitting American Woodland seemingly on autopilot on top of the leaderboard, Leishman gave himself a fighting chance with a five-under-par 68 to be 13 under overall and four shots behind Woodland.

Xander Schauffele picked up his second title of the 2018-19 season with a brand new Callaway Epic Flash driver and Apex Pro 19 Irons, which were both only launched last week! It stayed out to the right, he hit a pitch-and-run to 10 feet and missed the putt. Two eagle chips he almost made, one hitting the left edge of the cup, the other stopping inches away in the heart.

Schauffele won the Greenbrier Classic and the Tour Championship to lock up the PGA Tour's Rookie of the Year award in 2017, finished second in The Open last year and won the WGC-HSBC Champions after a play-off with Tony Finau last October.

They were tied late in the third round when McIlroy missed a good birdie chance on two par 5s at No. 15 and No. 18.

World No. 8 Rory McIlroy (68), Bryson DeChambeau (68) and first-round leader Kevin Tway (71) are tied for second at nine under. He set tournament marks with the lowest closing round by a victor and the largest 18-hole comeback (five shots).

"This one will sting", Woodland said.

Again, Ghana, Chad, others beat Nigeria on strength of passport ranking
France and Germany remain third in the rankings, offering citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 188 countries. The Henley Passport Index ranks Taiwan's passport as the 29th strongest in the world, a ranking shared by Costa Rica.

"The evolution of our streaming partnership with Twitter over the past three years has led to extraordinary feedback from our fans globally", said Rick Anderson, chief media officer for the PGA Tour.

"Well it means I get to come back, which is even better", Schauffele said of qualifying for next year's Tournament of Champions with the victory. He tapped in for birdie and a 62, posting a target of 23-under 269. But he found no consolation in losing to a guy who shot 62 in the tougher of the two wind directions on the west end of Maui.

Thomas closed with a 65 to finish alone in third.

However, the Northern Irishman is adamant he now knows what he's doing wrong and how he can return to winning ways for the rest of year, including at Augusta. "I got nervous coming down the stretch but I was able to pull off some shots".

While the expected duel between Woodland and McIlroy, playing together in the final group, never materialized, Schauffele provided plenty of drama. "It's just something I'm going to have to persist in, just keep putting myself in these positions and, honestly, I don't think anyone could have beaten Xander today".

Despite not playing in the event, Justin Rose reclaimed the world No 1 spot from Brooks Koepka after he ended up 24th in the 33-player field.
