Bayern Munich confirm signing of Benjamin Pavard

French World Cup winning defender Benjamin Pavard will join Bayern Munich from Stuttgart on a five-year contract as of July 1, the defending German champions revealed Wednesday (Jan 9).

He has featured 14 times for a struggling Stuttgart this season, with the club now 16th in the Bundesliga table.

Pavard enjoyed an impressive World Cup in Russian Federation, scoring a spectacular goal in his country's win over Argentina in the round of 16.

Pavard scored a fantastic goal for France against Argentina in the round of 16 encounter which was voted as the best goal of the tournament.

Pavard has been linked with numerous clubs since his eye-catching performances in Russian Federation, with Bayern rumoured to be interested in signing him immediately after the tournament. Munich meanwhile are attempting to achieve their seventh successive league title, and are six points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund.
