Samsung Smart TVs Will Support AirPlay 2 and iTunes Movies

Samsung smart TV owners that have support for the new feature will be able to buy content from iTunes, with resolution up to 4K on supported titles.

In a move that marks a shift in Apple's business model, the Cupertino firm has chose to play nice with rival Samsung and offer iTunes support on the latter's 2019 smart TV range.

LG is supporting both Airplay and Apple HomeKit, with the new capabilities built into all of the WebOS smart TVs coming in 2019. The iTunes Movies and TV Shows app will also work seamlessly with Samsung's Smart TV services such as Universal Guide, Bixby and Search.

"We pride ourselves on working with top industry leaders to deliver the widest range of content services to our Smart TV platform", said Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. The deal also signals that "peak iPhone" is very real and that Apple is looking for ways in which it can supplement its revenue in the face of a declining iPhone market.

Liverpool are Louis van Gaal's tip for Premier League title
And Fowler, who netted 128 Premier League goals for Liverpool , says he is tired of what could lie ahead for his former side.

Controlling the volume of a TV via AirPlay 2 would be new, and perhaps there's something coming related to Apple's reference to "built-in controls.in apps, ' but playback controls on the Lock screen and in Control Center already exist". The two companies also struck a deal that allows Amazon to sell Apple devices directly, in exchange for cracking down on unauthorized third-party sellers on the site. But what's more interesting here is the fact that the SmartCast TVs will add support for HomeKit.

Vizio TVs will also be getting HomeKit support and AirPlay 2 but no report of iTunes for Vizio.

Apple is clearly using the days leading up to CES to implement the first moves in its video strategy. This isn't just Apple admitting that its streaming service can't survive without those who refuse to pay for its increasingly pricey hardware. It's possible that the iTunes movies and TV shows app will be revamped to include this in the near future.
