#CES2019 - Samsung showcasing futuristic modular Micro LED technology

Unveiled on the eve of technology trade show CES, the 4K display is capable of hiding every portion of its 65-inch frame inside a built-in soundbar, which can still be used to play music and other audio while the screen is obscured.

CES would probably be incomplete without Samsung showcasing a tech that people can't afford and the company has lived up to the expectations this year as well. 8K (7,680 by 4,320) is a new display resolution that will finally see commercial release in 2019 after several years of concept and early design.

Another TV unveiled by LG on Monday is seen as a direct competitor to an 85-inch 8K display from rivals Samsung - which costs nearly $15,000 (£11,750). As a result, there is no need for color filters altogether and can deliver up to 2000 nits of peak brightness (almost double that of OLED TVs), brighter white hues, darker black shades, and the truest natural colors.

"For decades, Samsung has lead the way in next-generation display innovation", said Jonghee Han, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. The Micro LED display has a self-emissive technology and modular capabilities, this means the millions of RGB (red, green, blue) microscopic LED chips are able to emit their own light to produce and adjust the correct colour balance on the screen.

Micro LED technology is unique for a couple of different reasons.

Government shutdown: Democrats pan Trump's steel border wall concession
The administration has also raised the specter of terrorists crossing the border, although many of these claims are overblown . Republican Susan Collins of ME wants the Senate to take up House-passed bills to re-open the government.

The 219-inch display may be a pie-in-the-sky demo (for now!) but a 75-inch version - however expensive - could find its way into some homes in the relatively near future. By adding Micro LED modules, users can expand their display to any size they desire.

The technology will also be available in a more modest 75-inch size.

The Micro LED's modular nature also offers flexibility in screen size that allows users to customize it to fit any room or space.

Samsung says the Micro LED displays can be scaled up for a bigger resolution, and can support all types of content without sacrificing image quality.
