Prince William jokes that Kate looks like a Christmas tree

They had collected the presents from family members at a party at Kensington Palace on Tuesday.

Their visit comes after weeks of stories about tensions within the royal family, especially between Meghan and Kate.

The Duchess, who was dressed characteristically stylish in a green Smythe blazer, white top, and wide-leg pants, shared a sweet moment with a young royal fan while meeting members of the local community.

Kate, 36, channelled Meghan's style with £130 navy wide-legged pants from Jigsaw.

Duchess Kate also revealed that she tried to bring Prince George and Princess Charlotte down to enjoy the fun after their school day, but sadly, the party was all packed up by then.

She teamed them with a white silk top and a £666 recycled khaki blazer from Canadian brand Smythe. She paired her outfit with a clutch by L.K. Bennett, matching pumps and a delicate diamond hoop earrings by Asprey.

Meghan Markle, 37, often opts for wide-leg pants, and is equally fond of a messy up-do.

The magazine reported: "Kate and William have bought him a Grow-Your-Own Girlfriend kit, along with a more stylish gift - Gucci loafers because 'all his shoes have holes in them".

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met with military personnel at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus and posed in front of a Christmas tree.

And Kate admitted they felt rather "responsible" for the number of candies and marshmallows consumed yesterday, with many of their young guests leaving on a sugar high.

"They had a lot of candies by the end of the day".

"From my time in uniform, we both know a bit of what it feels like to balance your work commitments with your family life. The sugar highs. there were a lot of marshmallows!"

Later, William and Kate joined a Christmas afternoon tea where families stationed on the base were enjoying a selection of cakes and pastries.
