GOP senator rebukes Trump: We need to 'consider further action' against Saudis

Osama Nuqali, ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Egypt and to the Arab League, hailed the importance of the visit of Muhammad Bin Salman, which is the second this year since he assumed the office of the Crown Prince, noting that it confirms the strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries, the Saudi Press Agency reported. "It's inconsistent with the intelligence I've seen", said Lee.

Graham also said this: "It's important that we back up the intel community if we think they're right".

Lee added that he hoped mounting fury at Saudi Arabia would become "an opportunity for the Congress to weigh in and say, let's halt our efforts in Yemen". The third shown in the re-surfaced photos took place when the kingdom reunited under the name of Saudi Arabia.

But even some of those who have sided with Trump in the past have begun to tire of his steadfast defense of Mohammed in the face of clear evidence of human rights abuses and USA intelligence's high-confidence assessment implicating the prince in Khashoggi's October killing. This is not an ally that deserves this kind of military intervention, especially because there's been no connection between the safety of the American people and our involvement in this war.

I disagree with the president's assessment.

On Wednesday, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said that calls for the crown prince to be held accountable for the grisly killing would not be tolerated.

Tear Gas Is 'Natural, You Could Actually Put It On Your Nachos'
For the past several weeks, President Donald Trump has warned the migrant caravan members, again reiterating his stance on Nov 26. A Central American migrant sits on top of the border structure separating Mexico, left, and the United States, right, as U.S.

The killing of Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and a critic of the crown prince, at Riyadh's consulate in Istanbul six weeks ago has strained Saudi Arabia's ties with the West and battered Prince Mohammed's image overseas. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, said Sunday. "However, human rights ― we also are a very strong nation when it comes to human rights, when it comes to the rule of law, and if there are indicators that the prince was involved in this murder than we need absolutely consider further action". Questions still remain over how strongly Congress should respond in attempting to punish the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, over the murder.

"Now, Saudi Arabia is a great strategic partner for us", she added.

King, who was briefed by the Central Intelligence Agency on the Khashoggi killing before the Thanksgiving break, fired back at Trump's characterization of the CIA's conclusions, saying "the Central Intelligence Agency doesn't do feelings, they do assessments".

Numerous U.S. lawmakers have said they intend to push for U.S. sanctions against Saudi Arabia because of Khashoggi's killing.

The kingdom's public prosecutor is seeking the death penalty for five suspects charged in the murder, but has said Prince Mohammed had no prior knowledge of the operation.
