City Of Malibu Under Mandatory Evacuation Order As SoCal Fires Grow Overnight

One fire that broke out near the northeast corner of Los Angeles has roared westward, jumped US 101 in the Calabasas area and is surging up the Santa Monica Mountains.

Last June, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection report determined that PG&E power lines and equipment failures were to blame for 12 of the catastrophic wildfires.

The nearby Hill Fire covered about 4,000 hectares, according to Cal Fire.

The Southern California beach city of Malibu and its surrounding areas are under mandatory evacuation orders this morning as one of two fires that started Thursday afternoon in the region spread massively overnight, fueled by Santa Ana winds and ultra-dry conditions.

The town of Paradise, California, which has about 27,000 people, was asked to evacuate the area.

Calabasas and Malibu are home to numerous celebrities and some have been posting on social media, including reality TV star Kim Kardashian.

"I was frantic", she said.

"Just landed back home and had 1 hour to pack up & evacuate our home. My home is in jeopardy but. everything with a heartbeat is safe", she said.

Marcos critics rejoiced at the news of the conviction, which came almost three decades after the case was filed in 1991. The corruption court found Marcos guilty of seven counts of violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

A California fire official says six major fires are burning around the state, and characterized three of them as "critical".

"The preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were located in vehicles that were overcome by the Camp Fire", said a statement by the Butte County Sheriff's Department, adding that they had yet to be identified. "Ive talked with our administration and our athletic director to see what we can do but honestly I spent the whole night wondering where my mother was, not thinking about football".

A separate fire is threatening Malibu and has caused the city to be evacuated.

Thousands of people were evacuated from Paradise, home to 26,000 people, including from schools and hospitals.

"Not one home will be left standing", he said.

The flames descended on Paradise so quickly that many people were forced to abandon their cars and run for their lives down the sole road through the mountain town.

Typically, for Los Angeles at least, the serious headlines are interspersed with others reporting that the mansion from the television series The Bachelor is burning, or that the homes of former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner and pop icon Cher, are at risk.

The hospital was totally destroyed, Mike Mangas, a spokesman for operator Dignity Health, told Action News Now.

Thousand Oaks is a 30-minute drive north of Malibu.

One Paradise resident who fled the encroaching blaze told the Bee: "It was so hot".
