Pakistan, China agree to broaden existing trajectory of CPEC: Bakhtiar

The cash-strapped Pakistani government is facing grave economic challenges as it struggles to avoid a financial crisis and keep the economy afloat.

Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday, Finance Minister Asad Umar said that Pakistan had secured "commitment at the highest level" from the Chinese leadership "to increase our exports, and to do (the things) we should (to) have enough income so that we do not need to borrow", according to domestic media reports.

On Saturday, China said it had agreed to "firmly move forward" with infrastructure projects in Pakistan following meetings between Mr Khan and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

A court in northwest Pakistan on Wednesday summoned Prime Minister Imran Khan to appear before it on December 13 in a case filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief's rival candidate in the July 25 general elections over his alleged relation with a United States national, Sita White.

"Some people tried to portray the current government as a regime which is inattentive towards Pakistan's relationship with China".

At the time of the discovery, when editing messages already sent in a conversation, the "Unsend Message" option will appear. The users who had their mailboxes scrubbed of Zuckerberg's texts weren't even informed of the removal.

The foreign minister also said that he is confident that the discussions held in the recent visit would help Pakistan "double its exports", adding that one of the primary objectives of the China visit was to attend China's export and import exhibition, where 130 countries participated and Pakistan was given a centre stage and keynote address.

"Qureshi said the two sides also discussed to initiate the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)".

Prime Minister Imran Khan will leave for Malaysia on a three-day visit in the third week of November, sources told ARY News on Thursday.

Last month, Saudi Arabia said it would provide Pakistan with a $6bn (€5.2bn; £4.6bn) rescue package, but officials have said it is not enough, and the country still plans to seek a bailout from the International Monetary Fund. "China doesn't want Pakistan to be uncomfortably dependent on it". "We will continue to offer assistance and support within our capacity to Pakistan for its economic and social development in light of its needs and upon agreement by both sides", the spokesperson said. "The security dynamic is still paramount in terms of China's priorities", said Small.

He said now the agriculture sector is also being included in CPEC to uplift it.
