Ingress’ Prime relaunch paves way for new features in Pokmon Go

Pokemon Go Trainers can now catch two new shiny Pokemon as part of the Ingress Prime celebrations today.

Ingress Prime is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. Ingress is the game that directly led to Pokèmon GO.

As with the original, the Ingress Prime storyline will evolve and change based on how Ingress Agents interact with one another and the outcome of Ingress real world "Anomaly" events. It's the next evolution of the trailblazing geolocation game that was eventually responsible for the craze that is Pokémon Go.

In addition to the new Shiny Pokemon, Niantic is also offering players a couple of free customization items for their trainers to commemorate the launch of Ingress Prime.

News reports are fed into the system uninterrupted, meaning these newsreaders could theoretically operate 24-7. It's very flat, very single-paced, it's not got rhythm, pace or emphasis. "We will see it improve over time".

Other improvements include new menus, an inventory management system, one-finger map gestures, the ability to link to a Facebook account, and more security features to prevent cheaters. Ingress uses similar AR technology to Pokemon Go (the games often use similar real world locations for in-game hubs) but has a vastly different game concept. It's the ideal time to get back into the game if you've fallen out of it.

So expect updates in the future adding more details to what is going in Pokemon Go right now. Players also belong to one of two sides and compete for all the world's portals.

For now though, Ingress Prime is here and Niantic has big hopes it will attract some of the more hardcore Pokmon Go crowd into taking a look.

Players of the Ingress will receive the new title as an update. And there are now plenty of tools to help you get started in Ingress Prime - including explainer videos, that in-universe fiction series and even the game's upcoming anime show. Ingress has always had the image of being a geeky game very few could comprehend, with a mobile app that speaks to that nature.
