Vijay starrer Sarkar has broken many records on the box office on day 1. It is directed by AR Murugadoss and has music by AR Rahman. "To protest for the removal of certain scenes from the movie after the Censor Board issued certification, and destroying banners are against the law".

The superstar said he "strongly condemned" the demands for deletion of some scenes.

Tamil Nadu Information and Broadcasting Minister Kadambur Raju was the first official from the state government to express his displeasure with a few scenes from Sarkar and sought their removal from the film.

Several party cadres on Wednesday protested outside various theatres in Tamil Nadu and indulged in damaging the banners of the film and cut-outs of Vijay. "We will take action against the actor and the team", C.V. Shanmugam said. "I strongly condemn these". They also demanded certain scenes to be removed from the film.

In his earlier opinions, Adarsh had mentioned that Thugs of Hindostan could earn as much as Rs 50 crore on its opening day. Though the trailer of Thugs of Hindostan intrigued the viewers and set hopes high, the reviews are contrary.

"It isn't new for this government to act and pressurize against a film like Sarkar, which has completed its censor formalities properly. Commercialised politicians will soon be vanished and the good people would win", Haasan tweeted.

After the scale of protests gradually increased, the makers finally gave in and agreed to remove the objectionable scenes from the film.

According to trade experts, the film has collected Rs 100 crore in its first two days and has broken records in several places for actor Vijay.

The plot of the film revolves around a successful NRI CEO who returns to India for voting in elections but finds his vote has already been exercised.
