And he'll poke global locations to present up their national vetoes in some areas of worldwide policy.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday unveiled new plans to beef up the European Union's coastguard and asylum agency to better police Europe's outside borders and speed the deportation of unauthorised migrants.

Juncker used his annual speech to the European Parliament to call for the bloc to stand up for the worldwide order in the face of "trade and currency wars", in a swipe at US President Donald Trump's "America First" approach. At the moment it's simply a proposal, requiring support from member states and the European Union parliament to become legislation, according to TechCrunch.

In another part of his speech, Mr Juncker called for reform in how the European Union deals with immigration, which has been politically hard in several European Union countries.

The new rules will offer broader remits and additional personnel to the European Border and Coast Guard, and the EU Agency for Asylum, which will ensure that Member States can rely on a co-ordinated and effective response from EU-level authorities. This belief that "united we stand taller" is the very essence of what it means to be part of the European Union.

One reporter covering Jean-Claude Juncker's keynote address said a "sudden" and "louder, deafening set of applause" came through the PA system, without members in the room "doing anything different".

China welcomes U.S. trade talks offer as new tariffs loom
Farmers felt the pain when China targeted them with retaliatory tariffs , cutting off a major market for US agriculture exports. If both sets of tariffs go ahead it would mean virtually all of China's U.S. exports would be subject to new tariffs.

In a sign that Brussels remains open to a post-Brexit trade deal with the UK outside the single market, Mr Juncker added that "the United Kingdom will never be an ordinary third country for us".

"It is with this in mind that, in May, the Commission tabled a modern, fair and balanced proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework for the Union of 27", Juncker said. "The EU is a community of law and respecting the rule of law and abiding by court decisions is not an option". He unveiled proposals to strengthen the EU Economic and Monetary Union, in order to create a stronger Eurozone, and help displace the US dollar as the leading global trade currency. To love nations is to love Europe.

Europe must also shield its democratic process from worldwide and private interests, he said.

"This solidarity must be provided by member states if they want to retain the Schengen area without internal borders".

The European Union already has a series of deals with individual African countries, largely in North Africa, as well as additional economic partnerships with African blocs, such as the Southern African Development Community. Today, we are proposing a new Alliance for Sustainable Investment and Jobs between Europe and Africa.
