Google is killing off its Gmail alternative Inbox

Inbox will be deprecated at the end of March next year.

The closure of Inbox was hinted at when Google rolled out the new Gmail to users earlier in the year.

After launching their Gmail alternative Inbox in October 2014, Google has today announced they're killing off the innovative client in favour of concentrating on Gmail proper. The app presented features not found in the Gmail experience and earned itself some faithful users as a result. Gmail started picking up some nifty features of its own over time too, such as basic gesture customization, Smart Compose, AI-driven priority alerts, and un-sending emails. In the new experience, users can directly access actions on the emails within the Gmail inbox, snooze emails until a later time, send emails under a confidential mode, and more.

Background: About four years ago, to the day, the Gmail team announced Inbox. As of Android 8.0 (Oreo), snoozing has become an OS-level feature for all notifications and not just emails.

In their conclusions, the German researchers said there was evidence that some church files were manipulated or destroyed. Achieving the goals, he had said, would involve "consultation with experts, laity and clergy, as well as the Vatican".

When I reviewed Inbox back in 2014 I quickly realized that the service was not something that I wanted to use.

Google Gmail product manager Matthew Izatt wrote in a blog post that Inbox users can consult an online guide to familiarize themselves with Gmail.

Inbox was an experimental playground of sorts that Gmail users could switch to (and from) easily as it used the same account and data sources as Gmail. Whether that is going back to the Gmail app, or using a third-party app/service.
