Mike Pence: I'd face a lie-detector test over NYTimes op-ed

It would also tarnish America's image in the world and could offer openings to adversaries if the White House is constantly distracted.

Some have speculated that Pence was behind the op-ed, which uses the term "lodestar", a word the vice president has used on multiple occasions in the past.

Some of the officials featured in the book's anecdotes about the president, including Defence Secretary Jim Mattis and White House chief of staff John Kelly, issued statements denying the comments attributed to them by Mr Woodward.

Omarosa isn't the only person connected to the Trump White House who thinks the mystery writer may be Pence.

Pence said he is confident members of his staff had nothing to do with the op-ed's authorship.

"I have really no idea, nor do you, what else this person has divulged", Conway told Tapper.

More than two dozen high-ranking administration officials have denied writing the column, and Mr Pence said his staff had nothing to do with it.

"No. Never", Pence told CBS's "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan when asked if he'd had conversations about invoking the 25th Amendment, adding, "Why would we be, Margaret?"

Aaron Rodgers' injury could limit mobility but buoy Packers
Rodgers finished 20 of 30 for 286 yards, including 17 of 23 for 273 yards in the second half. "It's the best thing we do". And what buoying impact could his performance have on the Packers? Rodgers, it seemed, had avoided a major injury.

Separately, on "Fox News Sunday", the vice president said if he was asked, he would submit "in a heartbeat" to a polygraph concerning his denial of authorship.

"It's just not been my focus and it's not the president's focus", he said.

"The honorable thing to do here is for this individual to recognize that they are literally violating an oath", he said.

Some Democrats, meanwhile, argued that the op-ed and Trump's response to it are proof that the president is not fit to serve.

The anonymous official who authored the op-ed bashed the president's "amorality" and praised the work of "unsung heroes" who push back against him and his agenda.

Trump has said the Justice Department should investigate and unmask the anonymous author. After all, he is effectively calling for the government's instruments of criminal investigation to be brought to bear against someone who has committed no obvious crime.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Sen. "These accounts are very foreign to me".

"If you were to ask me, I would say the potential for that is great and grave, and you should stay away from this environment". The book, "Fear: Trump in the White House", is scheduled to be formally released Tuesday, all but ensuring that the debate over Trump's leadership ability and style will extend into a second straight week. "Races that we were not even thinking about winning are now very close, or even leading", the President said in a late Saturday evening tweet.
