Schalke to not pursue Loftus-Cheek and Rose signings

The midfielder has failed to establish himself as a first-team player at Chelsea since arriving from Leicester previous year and was linked with a number of clubs - including Leicester - prior to the English transfer window closing.

Kante and Ross Barkley started as the other midfielders in their first match against Huddersfield Town and Loftus Cheek came on as a substitute for Barkley in the second half. They have been the main one to show interest in Loftus-Cheek but honestly, it doesn't really matter what team he goes to, all he needs is some consistent playing time.

Schalke are thought to be among those poised to make an offer, but it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be willing to let the 22-year-old England global leave Stamford Bridge - and Loftus-Cheek is said to want to remain in the Blues squad. This would still mean that Loftus Cheek is down the pecking order at the Blues' line-up. He is very young, he can be a very useful player for us.

As things stand, there will be competition among Barkley, Mateo Kovacic, Cesc Fabregas and Loftus Cheek to get into the starting lineup of the Blues.

Cech to keep Arsenal starting place, for now
And it has now emerged that Arteta was indeed instrumental in the Premier League champions kicking off their title defence with a victory.

Loftus-Cheek helped England to a fourth place finish in Russian Federation.

However it is believed that the youngster is part of Sarri's plans and the Chelsea boss spoke about the 22-year-old's potential during pre-season.

Newspaper reports are suggesting that Bundesliga side Schalke are hoping to sign Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a season-long loan, although the England global is expected to reject the offer as he - correctly - opts to fight for his place at Stamford Bridge. Off the bench looks to be the best case scenario for Loftus-Cheek this season if he does stay with Chelsea.
