England rise to sixth in Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings after World Cup display

In the latest Federation Internationale de Football Association ranking released on the Thursday, August 16, France is now the best team in the World after emerging World Cup winners in Russia.

2018 World Cup champion France was the biggest points-based mover as it landed the top spot of the table, overtaking Germany which dropped to 15th place.

Gareth Southgate's side have jumped six places after reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup last month.

France were followed by Belgium, the team they beat 1-0 in the semi-finals, with Brazil dropping one place to third after their quarter-final exit against the Belgians.

England beat Colombia and Sweden in the knockout stages in Russian Federation before losing to Croatia in the semi-finals.

Tunisia dropped three places to 24 in the world after winning just one of their three group matches in Russian Federation.

Russia, who exceeded low expectations in their home tournament in making the quarter-finals, rise 21 spots to 49th.
