Recording reveals Nunes saying Rosenstein impeachment would complicate Kavanaugh confirmation

"If we do not keep the majority, all of this goes away", he said.

"It's like your classic catch-22 situation. That means it would derail or largely delay a big part of our agenda ... and it would clearly dramatically delay the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to go to the Supreme Court", he said.

A secret recording of a conversation during a Spokane fundraiser for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers is making national headlines for comments Rep. Devin Nunes made about the federal attorney overseeing the probe into Russian ties in the 2016 election.

Nunes concludes by saying Republicans need to keep their majority in Congress to protect the president.

At one point you can hear the Congresswoman chime in when Nunes was responding to a question from the audience about impeaching Rosenstein.

Later, he talks about the midterms and the honest need to keep a Republican majority in both the House and Senate, something Democrats are hoping to clinch.

While Nunes' team has not responded to the audio leak, McMorris Rodgers' team told KREM 2 that it is another political tactic by Fuse Washington to spread misleading information and lies.

Lombok was hit by another quake on Thursday, the third in a little over a week, causing panic, injuries and damage to buildings. Spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said there are reports of other deaths but they still need to be verified.

Nunes, who heads the House Intelligence Committee, seems to explain the main reason Congress hasn't taken up the issue is due to timing and the upcoming midterm elections.

Democrats on the committee have continued their own investigation and have made clear they will ramp up the probe again should they retake the House in November. If so, that's leaves roughly a month of time before elections for Nunes and Friends to renew Rosenstein impeachment efforts. I mean, so, I don't think you're gonna get any argument from most of our colleagues.

Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), members of the House Freedom Caucus, introduced a resolution last month to impeach Rosenstein.

The California 22nd Congressional District congressman was apparently pitching himself and the Republican Party at large as a buffer for Trump, who, among several members of his election campaign, is a subject in the special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation. "It's a matter of timing". Either way, he said, such a power move would have to wait until after Kavanaugh is confirmed by the Senate.

"So if we actually vote to impeach, OK, what that does is that triggers the Senate then has to take it up", he said on the recording.

"If Sessions won't un-recuse and Mueller won't clear the president, we're the only ones, which is really the danger", he says on the recording.
