Arsenal striker Lucas Perez has completed a move to West Ham United

West Ham United have announced the signing of Arsenal's Spanish forward Lucas Perez, on a three year deal, for a fee in the region of £5m, including add-ons.

Perez scored seven goals in 21 appearances for the Gunners, with agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle telling ESPN FC on Monday that he wanted to stay in London and prove himself in the Premier League.

The transfer was confirmed by Jack Wilshere of all people, who shared a brief, but nevertheless cinematic Instagram video of Perez sat twiddling away on his phone in the Hammers dressing room...

With the Baggies unable to offer Premier League football like West Ham, they would have to convince him to turn down a move to London. West Ham were already interested but now West Brom have joined the race to sign him.

Having been included in Arsenal's pre-season tour of Singapore it appeared Perez was potentially going to be given a fresh start under new head coach Unai Emery.

"From the very first meeting I had with Lucas, he made it very clear that he wanted to come to West Ham United and, for us, this is very important".

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but local media said West Ham had paid about 4 million pounds for the Spaniard.

West Ham also sold one player on deadline day, shipping 18-year-old Portuguese midfielder Domingos Quina to Watford.

"Lucas also has experience of the Premier League with Arsenal, and is familiar with life here in London, which of course means that he will take less time to adapt and be ready".
