Studio Pulls Release Of Johnny Depp Film City of Lies

City Of Lies' release date being pulled comes shortly after its leading man Depp was sued by a location manager who worked on the film.

As Variety reports, a spokesman for spokesman for the distribution company, Global Road Entertainment, has now revealed that the film has been pulled from the upcoming release schedule, with a new date not yet revealed.

Based on the true story of one of the most notorious and unsolved cases in recent memory, CITY OF LIES is a provocative thriller revealing a never-before-seen look at the infamous murder of The Notorious B.I.G. shortly following the death of Tupac Shakur.

Had it been released next month, it would coincide with the iconic rappers 46th birthday. The film was directed by Brad Furman. It was slated to hit theaters about a month from now, on September 7th.

Fognini Stuns del Potro to Win First Hard Court Title
But Fognini settled in, defending from all parts of the court and using his forehand to push Del Potro behind the baseline. His 6-4 6-4 win over Adrian Mannarino of France took him into the last four of the Abierto Mexicano in Los Cabos.

Sullivan was the inspiration for the movie's second lead, a journalist and writer played by Forest Whitaker, who approaches Poole and draws out his theory connecting the two murders with an infamous record label owner and members of the LAPD. The suit, which also names the film's director and producers, alleges that Depp verbally abused Brooks before punching him twice.

Despite rumours that Johnny Depp will return to the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise for a sixth chapter (even though Disney sacked James Gunn for offensive jokes, which rank significantly lower on the crime ladder than physical assault), there's potentially some bad news for the actor as well.

"In spite of fans voicing their concerns online about his presence in the movie after allegations of physically abusive behavior involving ex-wife Amber Heard emerged, the actor received applause and cheers from the Hall H crowd", says THR.
