NASCAR CEO Brian France arrested on DUI, possession of oxycodone

NASCAR CEO Brian France was reportedly arrested for DWI and possession of oxycodone approximately two hours after Chase Elliott's win on Sunday.

The Sag Harbor Village Police Department said in a press release Monday that France was pulled over at 7:30 p.m. after failing to stop at a stop sign. Cops say during the stop, they found oxycodone pills during a search of his person. France's blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit (0.08 percent in New York State). Jim France is the NASCAR vice chairman and executive vice president.

France became chairman and CEO of NASCAR in 2003, a position that makes him one of the most powerful figures in sports.

"The France family is locked and loaded in its dedication to NASCAR", France told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Maajid Nawaz: Jeremy Corbyn "Wilfully Ignorant" In Anti-Semitism Article
We are still trying to work out what (Mr Corbyn's office) is asking from us, whether it is a discussion, a statement or a speech. He insisted the differences were "very small" and amount to "half of one example out of 11" in relation to criticism of Israel.

TMZ said it got a statement from NASCAR on the incident, saying it was aware of it, gathering facts and that it "take [s] this as a serious matter".

Mr. France was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, both misdemeanors.

A misdemeanor in NY is defined as an offense other than a traffic infraction in which a sentence in excess of 15 days but not greater than one year may be imposed. His grandfather, William H.G. France, founded NASCAR and his father, Bill France Jr., was in charge of the league before the youngest France took over.

France also had a previously reported driving incident in Daytona in 2006.
