Some awesome news for you guys tonight as Variety has just confirmed that director Mike Flanagan's upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining sequel novel Doctor Sleep has just found its adult Danny Torrance.

Ewan McGregor has been cast as the lead character in the forthcoming cinematic sequel to The Shining.

Stanley Kubrick directed the original adaptation of "The Shining", starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. King released a sequel called Doctor Sleep in 2013, which tells of how Danny, now an adult, has inherited his father's alcoholic tendencies and uses his powers to help the terminally ill.

Ewan McGregor has signed on to play Danny Torrance in the film adaptation of Doctor Sleep. His worsened drinking problem equally suppresses his pain and his previously titular "shining" ability.

The 1980 horror film was based on a Stephen King novel. Through shining, he connects with a girl who has similar powers and is being targeted by an evil group.

Flanagan is known for such horror films as Before I Wake and Hush, but also recently turned King's Gerald's Game into a popular Netflix series.

But with It earning more than $700,000 worldwide for New Line a year ago, Doctor Sleep is now being fast-tracked into pre-production.
